The sixth commandment sets before us the value of human life. Human life is not only not to be taken unlawfully but neither is it to be abused. Rather we are to do all we can to work to promote human life and human welfare. There are certain people who we are to handle with special care and consideration - whose lives and welfare are at risk. There are certain people who are especially needy. These people are particularly vulnerable to being overlooked, taken advantage of and being oppressed.
