The New Covenant enables us to be in the presence of this same Holy God and it is before his presence that we as a people should desire to be. As Israel gathered to offer corporate worship to God, so we are called to offer corporate worship to this same God but we can go into that cloud. In fact we assemble before God’s heavenly presence and we can do so with joy, gladness but also with reverence and awe knowing indeed that our God is a consuming fire and that the fire of judgment has fallen upon the Lord Jesus Christ who fulfilled the covenant of works so as to secure our place in the covenant of grace.
